ANTHEM GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Anthem, AZ, USA
Designed by Greg Nash

Persimmon at Anthem Golf & Country Club is a Greg Nash design located in the master-planned community of Anthem, approximately 34 miles north of downtown Phoenix in the high Sonoran Desert. Opened in the late 1990s as part of the community's development, the course sits at an elevation around 2,300 feet, offering slightly cooler temperatures than the Valley floor and views toward the Bradshaw Mountains and New River Mountains. Nash, a regional architect with several Arizona designs to his credit, routed the course through rolling desert terrain characteristic of the transition zone between lower desert and high country.
The layout incorporates natural desert washes, elevation changes, and native vegetation including saguaro cacti, palo verde, and ocotillo. The design balances risk-reward opportunities with playability for the community membership, featuring strategic bunkering and greens that reflect the natural contours of the land. Water comes into play on several holes, and the routing takes advantage of the property's topography to create variety in hole presentation and shot values.
Anthem Golf & Country Club serves a residential community and maintains the course primarily for member play, with the Persimmon course functioning as the club's championship layout. The facility reflects the growth of golf communities in the northern Phoenix metropolitan area during the 1990s development boom, offering desert golf in a setting removed from the urban core.
