Percy Warner Golf Course

Percy Warner Golf Course occupies a scenic hillside setting within Percy Warner Park, part of Nashville's extensive Warner Parks system in the southwestern portion of the city. The course was designed by Willard Byrd and opened in 1970 as a municipal facility. Byrd, a North Carolina-based architect active in the mid-twentieth century, created a routing that works with the property's rolling terrain and mature hardwood forest, characteristic of the Tennessee landscape. The layout moves through elevation changes and wooded corridors that define playing corridors and frame views across the surrounding parkland. The course measures just over 6,000 yards from the back tees and presents a traditional parkland test with tree-lined fairways and greens that reflect the design sensibilities of its era. Several holes play uphill or downhill, requiring golfers to account for slope in club selection and approach strategy. The natural topography creates variety in stance and shot-making throughout the round. As a public course within a popular urban park system, Percy Warner serves a broad range of Nashville-area golfers and visitors seeking an accessible round in a wooded, natural setting. The Warner Parks themselves were donated to Nashville in the 1920s by the children of Colonel Luke Lea and named in honor of Percy and Edwin Warner. The parks remain a recreational anchor for the city, and the golf course functions as one component of the larger preserve, which includes trails, picnic areas, and equestrian facilities.
