PENINSULA STATE PARK GOLF COURSE
🇺🇸 Fish Creek, WI, USA
Designed by Larry Packard

Peninsula State Park Golf Course sits within one of Wisconsin's most visited state parks, occupying a wooded peninsula that juts into Green Bay along the Door County shoreline. Designed by Larry Packard and opened in 1921, the course has served generations of golfers who combine their rounds with the park's hiking trails, historic lighthouses, and shoreline camping. The layout reflects the practical constraints and natural beauty of its setting, winding through stands of hardwood and pine on gently rolling terrain characteristic of the Niagara Escarpment region.
The course plays as a straightforward test suited to recreational golfers and families visiting Door County, with tree-lined fairways that reward accuracy over distance. Several holes offer glimpses of the bay through the forest canopy, though the routing generally keeps to the interior woodlands rather than following the dramatic bluffs found elsewhere in the park. The design makes efficient use of the available land while preserving the park's natural character, maintaining a balance between golf and the broader recreational mission of the state park system.
As a municipal facility operated by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Peninsula State Park Golf Course functions as an accessible option for visitors exploring Door County's resort communities and cherry orchards. The course complements the park's other attractions without dominating the landscape, offering a casual round in a setting where golf shares space with camping, theater, and outdoor recreation.
Reviews
Really fun with great views of the bay. Not much going on until you get to the 8th hole, which is a 70 yard drop shot par 3 where you can punt the ball onto the green if you wanted to. Everything after that picks up with some rollercoaster holes from 9-12. Can get a little penal on the back nine but never felt unfair.
