PEACOCK GAP COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 San Rafael, CA, USA
Designed by Forrest Richardson, William Francis Bell

Peacock Gap stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of classic California golf design nestled in Marin County, a landscape known for its rolling hills and dramatic bay views. This parkland style course, carved from the area's natural contours, presents a strategic test where thoughtful course management is more advantageous than raw power. While not particularly notable on a global scale, Peacock Gap provides a challenging and enjoyable experience for golfers of all abilities.
Designed by Francis L. "Frank" Hope, the course reflects an era where playability and engagement were paramount. A 2023 renovation by architect Todd Eckenrode’s Origins Golf Design added length and re-contoured the fairways and greens to better challenge today's players. The par 72 track, with a slope rating of 133, now is over 7,000 yards.
Peacock Gap, while not a major championship venue, enjoys a loyal membership drawn from the surrounding community. The club fosters a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, a place where families gather and rounds are often followed by lively discussions over local craft beers and casual fare at the clubhouse. In addition to the members, the course is open for public play, an option for those looking to have a fun round in a relaxed environment.
Reviews
It’s a very easy walkable course. The members are nice. But pace of play can be slow
