PEACHTREE GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Atlanta, GA, USA
Designed by Bob Cupp, Bobby Jones, Bruce Matthews III, Finger Dye Spann, Robert Trent Jones Sr.
Peachtree Golf Club stands as a monument to Bobby Jones' vision, a sanctuary conceived after his Grand Slam triumph to foster camaraderie among golf's elite and the city's business titans. Nestled in the heart of Buckhead, this relatively flat parkland course unfolds through a dense canopy of mature hardwoods and towering pines, its subtle contours designed to challenge rather than overpower. A traditional course that meanders through Georgia's oldest, wealthiest neighborhood, it's a course where a gentle fade off the tee will set you up best, even if the greens run fast and true.
Robert Trent Jones Sr. brought Jones' dream to life in 1948, sculpting a layout that emphasizes strategic play and precision over brute force. Joe Jemsek, the golf professional known for his role in desegregating Atlanta's golf courses, served as its first pro. A later thoughtful renovation by Rees Jones ensured its playability for the modern game without sacrificing the original intent.
Beyond the course, Peachtree fosters a discreet, tightly-knit membership – a blend of Atlanta's most influential figures and a sprinkling of golf aficionados drawn by the club's storied past. It is the kind of place where the quality of the company is as prized as the quality of the golf. While it may not host the mega-tournaments often seen elsewhere, its prestige within golf's inner circles remains firmly intact.
Reviews
Peachtree is the gold standard in Atlanta. The place oozes with golf and southern history. Good luck getting in if you weren’t 3x legacy at UGA or a mid-am stud. The entire place is amazing and the conditions would rival those of ANGC. Bobby Jones must have built this place to practice hitting fades. As a drawer of the golf ball, this course is extremely challenging off the tee. A majority of holes require you to shape it right-left and if you don’t you wind up way out of position. Depending on the time of year you play will determine how fast the greens are. Both times I’ve played have been in the late summer and they were rolling around a 10. I’d love to see it at its peak in late fall as I hear they can get into the 14s on the stimp.
An incredibly fun venue. Lots of takeable lines for bombers with very tricky green complexes that make placement critical. Tons of green undulations. Very few members so conditions remain great year round and pace of play is unimpeded.
