PANMURE GOLF CLUB
🏴 Angus, Angus, Scotland
Designed by James Braid

Panmure stands as a vital link in golf's historical chain, a testament to the game's evolution on Scotland's rugged coast. Carved into the linksland near Carnoustie, the layout epitomizes classic Scottish golf: firm fairways, deceptive undulations, and ever-present wind. The course, while not exceptionally long, shrewdly favors players who can shape the ball and master the ground game. Expect blind shots, strategic bunkering, and a constant battle against the elements.
James Braid left his indelible mark on Panmure, refining the original design to create a course that demands both imagination and precision. While other courses in the area have garnered more international attention, Panmure remains a respected test of golf. It is revered by those who appreciate the subtleties of links golf, and where the traditions of the game are maintained and played with pride.
Panmure's enduring appeal lies in its ability to transport golfers back to a simpler era. It is a place where the spirit of the game, rather than championship glory, takes center stage. The club boasts a membership deeply connected to the local community, where tales of past rounds and future challenges are shared over a pint in the clubhouse. And for those seeking respite after a demanding round, the club is known for its exceptional Cullen Skink, a traditional Scottish soup that warms the body and soul.
Reviews
One of the most underrated courses in Scotland that really comes out of nowhere. Holes 4 thru 15 play away from the other 6 and are a seriously good group of holes. A few good short holes and some great long ones too. Best conditions I played in Scotland. Doesn’t rely on sea views despite it being right there.
