THE LANDINGS CLUB
🇺🇸 Savannah, GA, USA
Designed by Arthur Hills

The Palmetto Course at The Landings Club on Skidaway Island near Savannah was designed by Arthur Hills and opened in 1987. It is one of six courses that comprise The Landings, a large residential golf community situated along the marshes and tidal waterways of Georgia's coastal lowcountry. Hills, known for his strategic use of natural terrain and water features, routed Palmetto through mature maritime forest and around several wetland areas that define the character of this coastal landscape.
The course features generous fairways lined by live oaks, pines, and palmettos, with water coming into play on multiple holes. The routing takes advantage of the property's natural elevation changes—modest by lowcountry standards—and incorporates lagoons and marsh edges that require careful course management. Hills designed the layout to accommodate a range of skill levels while presenting strategic options for shot placement, particularly on approach shots to greens protected by water or bunkers.
As part of The Landings Club, Palmetto serves a private membership that includes access to all six courses on the property. The club operates as a member-owned amenity community, and the multiple courses allow for varied playing experiences within the same membership structure. The coastal Georgia setting provides a temperate climate that supports year-round golf, and the surrounding marshlands and waterways contribute to the scenic character common to courses in the Savannah area.
