BOCA WEST COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Boca Raton, FL, USA
Designed by Desmond Muirhead

Palmer I at Boca West is where South Florida golf tradition finds its breezy, modern stride. Built during the area's boom in popularity, the course carves through a landscape that subtly tests rather than overwhelms, demanding strategic thinking over brute force.
Arnold Palmer’s initial design has seen enhancements over the years, each iteration carefully balancing modern playability with the course’s inherent character. Generous fairways provide a welcoming first impression, but deceptive bunkering and subtly contoured greens soon reveal the depth of Palmer’s strategy. A course that may subtly favor a draw, there's a need for a precise short game to truly score, particularly when the afternoon winds off the nearby Atlantic begin to swirl.
Boca West, beyond its manicured fairways, fostered a vibrant social scene. The club became known for its fiercely contested member-guest tournaments and the camaraderie found in the clubhouse grill room, where stories of near misses and triumphant putts echoed long after the final putt dropped, often washed down with the club's famous "Boca Breeze" cocktail. While not known for hosting the game's most prestigious events, Palmer I remains a favored and well-regarded golfing destination in Boca Raton.
