PALM BEACH NATIONAL GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 West Palm Beach, FL, USA
Designed by Joe Lee, Porter Gibson
Palm Beach National, carved from the flatlands of Greenacres, Florida, stands as a testament to accessible golf. The course, originally designed in the early 1960s, presents a straightforward, parkland-style layout, rewarding accuracy over sheer power. This is a course where strategy and consistent ball-striking are paramount, more than raw distance. Fairways are generous, but the placement of bunkers and water hazards encourages thoughtful club selection, especially on approaches.
While not a championship venue in the strictest sense, Palm Beach National fostered a vibrant amateur golf scene for decades. It's a course where generations of local golfers honed their skills, participating in countless club championships and friendly competitions. The layout favors a draw, with several doglegs encouraging players to shape the ball.
Known locally as a welcoming club, Palm Beach National fostered a tight-knit community. Many members recall the club's legendary Friday night fish fry, a tradition that cemented friendships and provided the perfect ending to a week on the links. The familial atmosphere and unpretentious nature of Palm Beach National, a local favorite, distinguish it from the flashier, more exclusive clubs dotting the Palm Beach County landscape.
Reviews
Come for the vibes, stay for the…vibes. Not much raving to do about the course itself. Conditions were fair, pace was fine. Nothing to write home about positively or negatively. Though every green rolled true (which is more honesty than I got out of my playing partner). That said, I’ve had more fun off the course there than at maybe any other course I’ve been to. Excellent clubhouse and top tracer range, corn hole, solid short game area, and even a basketball hoop next to the range. The course itself has a rum ranger that drives around giving out free shots of rum. Honestly, the place is just all about fun and I love that. If I had one correctable note, it would be that they have a 10/10 logo and their pro shop selection with said logo should be drastically expanded. I will definitely be back.
