Padang Modern at Padang Modern Golf

Padang Modern Golf is located in Tangerang, part of the greater Jakarta metropolitan area in Banten province on the island of Java. The course was designed by Peter Thomson, the five-time Open Championship winner who became one of Asia's most prolific golf course architects after his competitive career. Thomson designed or renovated more than 100 courses across the Asia-Pacific region, bringing a strategic sensibility shaped by his links experience to tropical and subtropical settings.

The Tangerang area sits on relatively flat coastal plain terrain west of Jakarta, and courses in this region typically work with modest elevation changes and manage tropical vegetation and water features as primary design elements. Thomson's design approach in Southeast Asia generally emphasized playability for a range of skill levels while incorporating strategic bunkering and green complexes that reward thoughtful course management. His layouts often feature wide fairways that narrow at landing zones and greens with subtle contours.

Padang Modern serves the golf community in one of Indonesia's most densely populated urban corridors.
