PACKSADDLE RIDGE GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Keezletown, VA, USA
Designed by Russell Breeden

Packsaddle Ridge Golf Club sits in Keezletown, Virginia, a small community in the Shenandoah Valley between Harrisonburg and the eastern slopes of the Massanutten Mountain range. The course was designed by Russell Breeden, a regional architect who has worked primarily in Virginia and neighboring Mid-Atlantic states since the 1990s. Breeden's designs typically emphasize playability for a range of skill levels while working with the natural terrain features of their sites.
The Keezletown setting places the course in rolling piedmont and valley terrain characteristic of this part of the Shenandoah region. Courses in this area generally feature elevation changes, views toward the surrounding mountains, and routing that follows the natural contours of the land. The climate and soil conditions support the bent and bluegrass playing surfaces common to Virginia layouts at this elevation.
As a daily-fee facility in the Harrisonburg area, Packsaddle Ridge serves both local golfers and visitors exploring the Shenandoah Valley. The club provides a golf experience accessible to the regional community rather than operating as a private or resort destination. The course reflects the practical design approach typical of public golf development in smaller Virginia markets during its era of construction, balancing challenge with the needs of everyday play.
Reviews
Packsaddle Ridge Golf Club might not have the best-kept fairways, but the views easily make up for it. The 13th and 14th holes have some of the most unreal scenery you’ll find anywhere, with the Shenandoah Mountains stretching out in the background. It’s the kind of place you have to play in the fall when the colors hit just right. The clubhouse is surprisingly upscale too; clean design, nice layout, and it gives the whole place a classy finish after a round that’s all about the views.
