LIGHTHOUSE COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Kingsland, TX, USA
Designed by Jerry Slack, Leon Howard

Packsaddle at Lighthouse Country Club occupies land along the northern shores of Lake LBJ in the Texas Hill Country, near Kingsland in Llano County. Leon Howard and Jerry Slack designed the course, which takes its name from the nearby Packsaddle Mountain, a local landmark in this part of central Texas. The routing works with the natural limestone terrain and oak-studded landscape characteristic of the Highland Lakes region, where elevation changes and rocky outcroppings shape the playing corridors.
The course reflects the design sensibilities of its era and the practical considerations of building on Hill Country property, where water availability and the underlying geology influence maintenance and playability. Lake LBJ provides a scenic backdrop for several holes, and the layout incorporates views of the surrounding hills and water. The club serves a residential community and regional membership drawn to the area's recreational opportunities, including boating and fishing on the Highland Lakes chain.
Lighthouse Country Club functions as a semi-private facility, offering golf alongside other amenities typical of Texas lake community clubs. The course provides a straightforward test for members and guests navigating the Hill Country terrain, with the character of play shaped by wind exposure common to elevated sites and the firm conditions that limestone-based soils can produce during dry periods. The setting appeals to those seeking golf in the scenic lake country northwest of Austin.
Reviews
Nothing special when it comes to the layout. One pretty interesting par 5 that cuts through some rocky outcroppings. That was the most memorable hole in my opinion. Course was in pretty good condition but I played it during the best time of year over the summer
