PUNTA MITA CLUB DE GOLF
🇲🇽 Punta de Mita, Nayarit, MX
Designed by Jack Nicklaus
Pacifico, at Punta Mita, is home to the famed "Tail of the Whale," an optional par-3 seventh hole that rests on a natural island accessible only at low tide – a shot, and an experience, unique in the golfing world. The course, a modern resort design carved into the lush, undulating terrain of Mexico's Riviera Nayarit, offers generous fairways and strategically placed bunkers that reward thoughtful play rather than brute force. Pacifico generally favors a high ball hitter that can create soft landings on approach, with many risk-reward opportunities and doglegs that encourage aggressive lines.
Designed by Jack Nicklaus, Pacifico blends seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. The Golden Bear expertly integrated the course with the existing flora and fauna, creating a visually stunning and ecologically sensitive design. While no major professional tournaments have been staged here, the course provides a stern test for amateurs and professionals alike and serves as a popular escape for avid golfers seeking a challenging yet beautiful golf experience.
The charm of Pacifico extends beyond its design. It's the quintessential resort experience, the kind where post-round margaritas are practically mandatory. It caters to those seeking a relaxed, upscale golf vacation, a place where the Pacific Ocean provides the ultimate backdrop to a memorable round.
Reviews
Kind of exactly what you’d expect. Souped up resort course with wide fairways. Really odd balance of very easy holes and some pretty difficult holes. Long if tipped out. Too expensive for what it is, but you know that going into it. The tail of the whale hole is a marketing stunt, the sign that says it’s closed looks very permanent.
