BANDON DUNES GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Bandon, OR, USA
Designed by Tom Doak
Pacific Dunes, a cornerstone of the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, offers a starkly different, yet equally compelling, test compared to its famed neighbor, Bandon Dunes. Situated along the rugged Oregon coastline near Round Lake, its undulating fairways and dramatic clifftop greens have quickly cemented its place in golfing lore.
Designed by Tom Doak, in his prime architectural era, Pacific Dunes embraces the natural contours of the land more overtly than its sibling course. Its links-style layout is characterized by exposed sand dunes, wispy fescue grasses, and greens perched precariously along the Pacific's edge. Errant shots are often punished with challenging lies in deep bunkers or thick vegetation, favoring creativity and shot-making over brute power; with a premium placed on controlling trajectory in the prevailing coastal winds. The course doesn't overtly favor any particular shot shape, but its strategic bunkering and undulating green complexes demand a keen understanding of angles and distance control.
While Pacific Dunes hasn’t hosted major professional championships, its reputation as a pure golfing experience draws a devoted following of avid players. The beauty of the course is that it’s not so exclusive to those who aren’t members. This is golf for the public, in every respect, and for many it is a bucket list destination; one that is truly accessible.
Reviews
Excellent
Great track, some people critique the greens, for me I factor the large number of rounds played daily, resort experience is awesome, great time for a group or single trip, make sure you play the Kaiser par 3 tee on 17….use it as the tiebreaker for any bets
Not sure it gets any better than this. Course was in pristine condition. Pretty windy in the afternoon when we got to play.
fucking hard dawg
Surreal setting for a course. If you get the opportunity… RUN to play here
A contradiction of a golf course where it should be open but Doak makes you play to specific landing areas. Course is pure and scenery is incredible. You can get lost in the views instead of the golf. Difficult but one of my favorite walks.
Favorite course at Bandon. Mix of imposing tee shots, drivable par 4s, long par 3s, and Par 5s. 16, 17, 18 is possibly my favorite finishing stretch in golf. Win direction changes the course and distance. Wonderful test of links style golf on picturesque land on Oregon coast. As good as it gets.
Really freaking good. The seaside holes are all world. Only complaint is 18…
The best course at the world’s best golf resort. Was a dream come true to play, fantastic routing and vistas.
Pac Dunes is my favorite of the Five world class 18 hole courses after that the order changes pretty constantly but Pac Dunes always number 1. Everything is laid back, lodging is great, food is great. You have to go at least once it’s a buddy experience like no other
