OYSTER HARBORS CLUB
🇺🇸 Osterville, MA, USA
Designed by Donald Ross
Oyster Harbors, a Cape Cod jewel, whispers tales of leisurely summer rounds and generations of families etching their names into its fairways. Carved into a unique, almost island-like setting within the tony village of Osterville, the course is a classic example of early American parkland design, demanding strategic play more than brute power.
Originally laid out by Donald Ross, Oyster Harbors presents golfers with undulating fairways lined by mature oaks and pines, characteristic of the Cape's coastal landscape. While not particularly long, the course rewards thoughtful approaches to its subtly contoured greens. Locals often joke that the course favors a player who can work the ball, navigating the doglegs and strategically placed bunkers that demand accuracy from tee to green.
While Oyster Harbors may not boast a national tournament pedigree, its charm lies in its exclusivity and close-knit membership. It is said that securing a tee time during the summer months is more challenging than earning a spot in the U.S. Amateur. The club is also locally renowned for its oyster bar, a fitting tribute to the area's rich maritime history and a perfect spot to recount the day's triumphs (and occasional tribulations) after a round.
Reviews
Shot 86 (46-40). Back 9 was incredible stretch of holes. Bunkering was amazing on every hole, especially greenside bunkers on Par 3 2nd and Par 5 14th.
