OVIINBYRD GOLF CLUB
🇨🇦 Foot's Bay, Ontario, CA
Designed by Thomas McBroom

Oviinbyrd, nestled in the heart of Foot's Bay, stands as a testament to unhurried, unfussy Muskoka golf. Woven into the Canadian Shield, the course is a blend of rugged beauty and clever design.
Built in the late 20th century, Oviinbyrd lacks the pretension of some of its contemporaries. Carved from dense forest and granite outcroppings, the fairways reward bold play over outright length, the kind of course where a well-placed drive is more valuable than sheer distance. Doglegs demand strategic thinking, and navigating the subtle undulations of the greens is an art form. Locals will tell you the 7th, a short par-4, has ruined more scorecards than any other hole on the course.
The club itself fosters a community of dedicated golfers more than an exclusive social scene. The lack of championships and accolades doesn't diminish the appeal. Instead, it focuses the attention where it should be: on enjoying the game and the stunning Muskoka scenery.
While not formally known for a signature dish, the grillroom chatter often revolves around the hearty, homemade chili, a welcome treat after a round on a crisp autumn day, best enjoyed while recounting the day's triumphs and, more often, the amusing defeats.
