ORCHARD CREEK GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Altamont, NY, USA
Designed by Paul Cowley

Orchard Creek, a fixture of the Altamont, NY landscape, offers a classically styled golfing experience rooted in upstate New York's undulating terrain. The course’s design, while not widely celebrated on a national stage, presents a subtle challenge that favors strategic play over sheer power. Its relatively open fairways belie deceptively quick greens, demanding a deft touch around the putting surfaces.
Architect Hal Purdy originally sculpted Orchard Creek into the rolling hills west of Albany. The layout provides golfers with several memorable holes, with many of the doglegs offering a chance to cut the corner for the risk/reward minded golfer. While largely absent from the national tournament circuit, the course is known locally for its strong amateur events.
Beyond the golf, Orchard Creek fosters a tight-knit community where camaraderie is valued. In a region known for its hearty appetites, the club's grill room stands out. While not particularly renowned, the club is known for its friendly membership and accessible layout, solidifying its place as a popular course for Albany locals.
Reviews
Personal favorite course. Beautiful mountain views while playing through an apple orchard. Pinnacle of upstate new york autumn golf
Big fan of this track. Under new management within the past few years and the changes are starting to materialize. Always fun to play in the fall with the apples on course. Scoreable if you’re willing to take the risk
