Olympic View at Olympic View Golf Club

Olympic View Golf Club sits in the northern reaches of Greater Victoria on Vancouver Island, occupying gently rolling terrain that takes advantage of the area's natural topography. Designed by Bill Robinson and opened in the mid-1960s, the course reflects the straightforward, playable design philosophy common to Canadian municipal and semi-private layouts of that era. Robinson, a Pacific Northwest architect whose work includes several courses in British Columbia, created a routing that works with the land's modest elevation changes and incorporates the region's characteristic Douglas fir and Garry oak vegetation.

The course measures just over 6,400 yards from the back tees and features tree-lined fairways that require accuracy off the tee while remaining accessible to mid- and high-handicap players. Water comes into play on several holes, and the greens are typically moderate in size with subtle undulation. The layout includes a mix of short and long par fours, with strategic bunkering that rewards thoughtful course management over pure distance.

Olympic View serves a local membership and welcomes public play, functioning as a community golf hub in the Saanich Peninsula area. The club maintains a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere typical of Vancouver Island golf facilities. While the course does not host major competitive events, it provides a solid test of golf in a pleasant setting, with views toward the surrounding hills and, on clear days, glimpses of the Olympic Mountains across the Strait of Juan de Fuca to the south—the feature that gives the club its name.
