OLD MARSH GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Palm Beach Gardens, FL, USA
Designed by Pete Dye
Old Marsh, carved from the wetlands of Palm Beach Gardens, reflects the spirit of a bygone era where challenge and strategy triumphed over brute force. Designed by Pete Dye in the mid-1980s, its core routing meanders through preserved natural habitat, presenting golfers with a classic Florida parkland experience. Dye’s signature touches – subtly elevated greens, strategically placed bunkers, and water hazards that demand respect – are all present, rewarding thoughtful approaches and punishing wayward shots. Wide fairways that invite the long ball are complimented by challenging approach shots, where precise distance control is essential to scoring.
While Old Marsh may not host televised championships, its demanding layout and dedication to pure golf have cultivated a fiercely loyal membership. The club's emphasis is less on grandstanding and more on fostering camaraderie amongst serious golfers who appreciate the nuances of course design and the challenge of consistently playing well. The membership, noted for their competitive spirit and discerning palates, hold court in the clubhouse, often debating the merits of various strategies over the club's famed blackened grouper sandwich.
Beyond the course, Old Marsh's culture emphasizes the traditions of the game. Caddies are encouraged, walking is embraced, and cell phones are discouraged on the course, allowing golfers to fully immerse themselves in the experience. It's a place where the golf is paramount, the company is engaging, and the escape from the everyday is complete.
Reviews
Conditions were beyond excellent, one of the better manicured courses I’ve come across. Don’t let the front fool you, confidence around the turn was quickly dampened as I headed deeper into the marsh. Back 9 ruined the scorecard for me and even still had a great time. Gorgeous property and a true gem
