REYNOLDS PLANTATION AT THE OCONEE
🇺🇸 Greensboro, GA, USA
Designed by Rees Jones

The Oconee Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee (formerly Reynolds Plantation) is a Rees Jones design that opened in 2002, completing the property's collection of championship layouts along Lake Oconee in central Georgia. Jones, known for his U.S. Open course preparations and strategic design philosophy, created a routing that moves through rolling piedmont terrain with several holes playing along or near the lake's shoreline. The course occupies the southern portion of the resort property, roughly an hour east of Atlanta.
The layout features Jones's characteristic emphasis on shot values and risk-reward decision-making, with generous fairways that reward precise positioning for approach shots into well-defended greens. The routing takes advantage of elevation changes throughout the property, and the lakefront holes provide both scenic variety and strategic interest, particularly where water comes into play on approach shots. The course stretches over 7,000 yards from the back tees and incorporates native grasses and pines characteristic of the Georgia piedmont.
Reynolds Lake Oconee developed as a residential golf community with multiple courses by different architects, and The Oconee Course serves as one of several championship options for members and resort guests. The club offers full amenities typical of a destination golf property, including practice facilities and dining. The course is maintained to high standards consistent with the resort's positioning as a multi-course golf destination in the Southeast.
