OCEAN DUNES GOLF LINKS
🇺🇸 Florence, OR, USA
Designed by Bill Robinson

Ocean Dunes Golf Links occupies a distinctive stretch of Oregon's central coast near Florence, where the course plays across genuine coastal dune terrain. Bill Robinson designed the layout to work with the natural undulations and sandy soil characteristic of this shoreline environment. The property sits within a landscape shaped by wind and maritime weather, where shore pines and native grasses frame holes that move through rolling duneland topography.
The routing takes advantage of the site's natural elevation changes and dune formations, creating a links-style experience uncommon along the Pacific Northwest coast. Players encounter holes that climb over ridges and drop into valleys carved by the coastal geography. The sandy subsoil provides firm conditions and good drainage, allowing the course to remain playable even during Oregon's wet seasons. Prevailing winds off the Pacific add a strategic element that varies considerably with weather patterns.
Robinson's design emphasizes ground game options and creative shot-making rather than forced carries, reflecting traditional links principles adapted to the Oregon coast setting. The course serves both local golfers and visitors exploring the Florence area, offering a contrast to the heavily forested parkland layouts more typical of the Pacific Northwest. The facility operates as a public-access course, making this style of coastal dune golf available to a broad range of players traveling along Highway 101.
Reviews
Played here the year it opened and it was really cool and really hard. One of the first links type courses. Lots of sand and native grass fast forward 20 years and there are scrub lining the crowned fairways and balls hit in the center roll into the trees. 18th hole is out of place as well nothing links about it. They should cut down every tree and they might have something
