OCEAN CLUB GOLF COURSE
🇧🇸 Paradise Island, Nassau/Paradise Island, BS
Designed by Phil Smith, Tom Weiskopf

The Ocean Club Golf Course occupies the eastern end of Paradise Island, where Tom Weiskopf redesigned the original layout in the early 2000s with Phil Smith. The course sits on a narrow peninsula bounded by Nassau Harbour to the south and the Atlantic Ocean to the north, creating a distinctive routing that moves through three distinct landscape zones. The front nine plays inland through tropical vegetation and elevation changes uncommon for the Bahamas, while the back nine emerges onto dramatic oceanfront terrain.
Weiskopf's design takes advantage of the property's natural limestone ridges and native vegetation, incorporating significant elevation change—particularly on the front nine, where holes rise and fall through wooded corridors. The routing shifts character at the turn, with several holes playing directly along the Atlantic coastline. The par-three 17th hole, positioned on a rocky promontory with the ocean on three sides, represents the most photographed moment on the course. Trade winds off the ocean influence play throughout the round, particularly on the exposed coastal holes.
The course serves as the centerpiece of the Ocean Club resort, which has roots in the mid-twentieth century as an exclusive retreat. The property maintains a reputation for privacy and understated luxury, drawing an international membership and resort guest population. The course has hosted professional events including stops on the PGA Tour's schedule, though it functions primarily as a high-end resort amenity rather than a tournament venue. The combination of Weiskopf's strategic design and the oceanfront setting distinguishes it among Caribbean golf destinations.
Reviews
Views were amazing. Conditions weren’t the best, but it’s Bermuda grass in the summer, so not sure it was fair to expect better. Layout is still pretty good with some fun holes. 17 is the signature.
