KIAWAH ISLAND GOLF RESORT
🇺🇸 Kiawah Island, SC, USA
Designed by Clyde Johnston
Oak Point, sculpted across the Kiawah River's tidal marshes, presents a compelling counterpoint to its more celebrated neighbor, the Ocean Course. Designed by Clyde Johnston in 1989, Oak Point is a decidedly modern design where strategy trumps sheer length.
The course unfolds across expansive wetlands, demanding thoughtful club selection and precise execution. Wide fairways belie the challenges posed by strategically placed bunkers and ever-present coastal winds. Favoring the accurate rather than the long hitter, Oak Point rewards intelligent course management and the ability to shape shots.
While Oak Point hasn't hosted major championships on the scale of its sister course, it is a popular and respected layout, offering a stern but fair test of golf. The club fosters a relaxed atmosphere and is known for its thriving member events, casual dining atmosphere and community of families and couples who also relish the Kiawah lifestyle.
Reviews
Known by locals as the caddie country club. The lesser of all the Kiawah courses with it not being on the main island. Still a fun golf course, some great views of the river on 9 & 18.
About as mid as it gets. Easily the worst of the Kiawah courses. A few cool risk reward shots, but just very bland resort golf. The views of the marsh on 18 are very cool.
