AMELIA ISLAND GOLF RESORT
🇺🇸 Amelia Island, FL, USA
Designed by Pete Dye

Oak Marsh, etched into the landscape of Amelia Island Golf Resort, whispers tales of a Lowcountry links experience subtly shaped over decades. The course, meandering through the maritime forest, embodies classic parkland design principles.
Designed by Pete Dye in the early 1970s and later refined by Bobby Weed, Oak Marsh is characterized by its tight, tree-lined fairways and challenging water hazards. It is not a brute; rather, a strategic test favoring shot-makers who can navigate the doglegs and strategically placed bunkers. The course rewards thoughtful approaches and demands respect for the subtle undulations of the greens.
While Oak Marsh hasn’t hosted major championships, its regional reputation among discerning golfers is solid. It’s a course where a casual round can become a memorable battle against par, and where the post-round clubhouse chatter often centers on the precise yardages and the elusive pin placements. The club is beloved by its members for its unpretentious atmosphere and commitment to the traditions of the game, attracting a loyal following of local golf enthusiasts.
Reviews
Great spring conditions. Greens rolled true but on slower side. Fun layout, playable but challenging. Great pace of play
Recently redone by Beau Welling going to one cut of turf and then sandy scrap on the outside. Very playable and enjoyable resort style course
