Northampton at Northampton Country Club

Northampton Country Club, located in Leeds, Massachusetts, was designed by Alex Findlay, one of the early Scottish professionals who helped establish golf in America during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Findlay, who emigrated from Scotland in 1887, designed numerous courses throughout the northeastern United States and is recognized as one of the pioneering figures in American golf course architecture. The club represents the work of this formative period when golf was taking root in New England.

The course occupies rolling terrain characteristic of the Pioneer Valley region of western Massachusetts, situated along the Connecticut River valley between the Berkshire hills to the west and the higher elevations to the east. The landscape provides natural movement and elevation changes that Findlay incorporated into his routing.
