WILMINGTON COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Wilmington, DE, USA
Designed by Dick Wilson

Wilmington Country Club's North Course is where deep-rooted tradition meets demanding championship golf in the rolling hills of the Brandywine Valley. Carved from mature, heavily wooded terrain, this classic parkland layout, originally designed by Robert Trent Jones, presents a strategic challenge favoring players who can shape shots and navigate subtly contoured greens. Expect to encounter tree-lined fairways that reward accuracy over sheer distance, and approaches that test your ability to control trajectory and spin. The course favors a strategic approach as opposed to a grip it and rip it style.
Significant renovations by Andrew Green have breathed new life into Jones' original vision, enhancing its playability for modern golfers while preserving the course's inherent character. The North Course served as the stage for the 2013 Palmer Cup and more recently, the 2022 BMW Championship, marking a significant return of elite professional golf to the region and cementing its place as a championship venue.
While not necessarily holding a place in the uppermost echelons of nationally recognized courses, the North Course’s challenging layout and commitment to course conditioning make it a respected test for accomplished golfers in the Mid-Atlantic region. Members appreciate the course's understated elegance and its role as a central gathering point for a close-knit community.
