MOSS CREEK GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Hilton Head Island, SC, USA
Designed by Tom Fazio

The North Course at Moss Creek Golf Club opened in 1987 as Tom Fazio's contribution to Hilton Head Island's collection of resort and residential layouts. Fazio worked with the property's natural Lowcountry terrain, incorporating mature live oaks, magnolias, and pines into a routing that winds through the Moss Creek residential community. The course sits inland from the ocean, characterized by the flat to gently rolling topography typical of the South Carolina coast, with several holes playing along or near tidal marshlands that define the eastern edge of the property.
The design emphasizes strategic bunkering and water hazards that come into play on roughly half the holes. Fazio shaped generous fairway corridors but positioned hazards to reward precise shot-making, particularly on approach shots to moderately sized, contoured greens. The marsh holes on the back nine provide both scenic variety and tactical challenge, requiring carries over wetlands and careful club selection in the coastal breezes. Live oaks draped with Spanish moss frame many holes, creating a sense of enclosure and regional character.
Moss Creek operates as a semi-private club serving both members and resort guests. The North Course pairs with the property's South Course, designed by Gary Player, to offer contrasting styles within the same facility. The club maintains a relaxed Lowcountry atmosphere typical of Hilton Head's golf community, with casual dining and a focus on accessible, enjoyable golf rather than championship-level difficulty.
