LOS SERRANOS GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Chino Hills, CA, USA
Designed by John Duncan Dunn
Los Serranos Golf & Country Club's North Course sits in the rolling hills of Chino Hills in Southern California's Inland Empire, approximately forty miles east of Los Angeles. Designed by John Duncan Dunn and opened in the late 1920s, the course reflects the work of an architect who was active in Southern California during the region's early golf development era. Dunn, a Scottish-born designer, created several courses across California in the 1920s and 1930s, bringing traditional design sensibilities to the region's varied terrain.
The North Course occupies hilly, transitional landscape where the coastal plain meets the Chino Hills, providing elevation changes and views across the surrounding valleys. The routing takes advantage of natural contours, with holes moving through draws and over ridges characteristic of the area's topography. Mature trees frame many holes, and the design incorporates strategic bunkering and green complexes that require thoughtful approach play.
Los Serranos operates as a semi-private facility, making the North Course accessible to both members and daily-fee players. The club features a second eighteen, the South Course, giving the property thirty-six holes total. The North Course represents a piece of Southern California golf history from the pre-Depression era, maintaining its place as a regional layout that has served generations of Inland Empire golfers. The course provides a traditional test suited to the rolling terrain, with a character shaped by both its 1920s origins and the mature landscape that has developed over nearly a century.
