LAKE HEFNER GOLF CLUB
πΊπΈ Oklahoma City, OK, USA
Designed by Randy Heckenkemper

North at Lake Hefner Golf Club is a quintessential municipal track, a testament to accessible golf hard on the shores of its namesake lake. Designed in the mid-century era, its fairways play firm and fast, demanding creativity more than brute strength.
While not a course of national renown, North's strength lies in its local appeal. Architect Floyd Farley carved the original layout from windswept prairie, creating a largely unbothered design. The undulating terrain introduces subtly canted lies and rewards strategic placement off the tee; Lake Hefner's ever-present winds demand adaptable shot-making and can turn a routine round into a tactical challenge.
For decades, North has served as the backdrop for countless friendly matches and weekend rounds among Oklahoma City golfers. The unassuming clubhouse has played host to generations of players, cementing its position as a community hub where the game, rather than the prestige, is the main draw. It is a place where the spirit of the game lives on.
