Ross Forbes, Donald Ross's nephew and longtime associate, later contributed refinements to the design. The course reflects the elder Ross's characteristic approach to New England sites: strategic bunkering, subtly contoured greens with false fronts and interior slopes, and routing that follows the natural land movement without excessive earthwork. The property features mature tree-lined fairways and elevation changes that create variety in stance and approach angles throughout the round.
