Niagara Falls Course
Lewiston, NY, USA

Niagara Falls Country Club sits in Lewiston, New York, approximately seven miles north of Niagara Falls along the Niagara River escarpment. The club dates to 1923 and occupies elevated terrain that provides views across the river toward Ontario. The routing takes advantage of the natural topography characteristic of this region, where the landscape transitions from the Niagara Escarpment's upper plateau down toward the river valley. The course plays through mature tree-lined corridors with elevation changes that create variety in shot requirements and visual interest. Several holes incorporate the natural ridges and slopes of the escarpment terrain, while others occupy more level ground. The property's position along the escarpment means golfers encounter both uphill and downhill approaches, with the changing elevations affecting club selection and strategy throughout the round. The club maintains a traditional private country club atmosphere, serving members from the Lewiston and greater Niagara Frontier area. Like many clubs of its era in western New York, it functions as a social and recreational center for the local community, with golf as the central amenity. The course has undergone modifications over its century of operation, as most courses of this vintage have, adapting to changes in equipment and maintenance practices while preserving the essential character shaped by its escarpment setting.

Big names like A.W. Tillinghast and Robert Trent Jones helped shape Niagara Falls CC to what it is today. Offering a fairly forgiving swings off most tees, NFCC still shows its teeth on approach shots. If it had a view of the falls, this Tilly design would be much more noteworthy on his resume. NFCC was the original site of the Porter Cup and certainly worth playing.
