NEW SOUTH WALES GOLF CLUB
🇦🇺 La Perouse, New South Wales, AU
Designed by Alister Mackenzie

New South Wales Golf Club, perched dramatically on the cliffs of La Perouse, is where golfing ambition meets unyielding natural forces. This championship layout, forged from windswept dunes, directly confronts the untamed spirit of the Tasman Sea.
Designed by Dr. Alister MacKenzie in the Golden Age, with later refinements by Eric Apperly, the course demands a strategic mind. The raw, links-style terrain features undulating fairways, pot bunkers burrowed into the landscape, and relentless coastal winds that dictate club selection and shot shape. Errant shots are often swallowed by the unforgiving native coastal scrub. The course demands both distance and the strategic acumen to navigate it, rewarding players who embrace the challenge of its exposed location.
The club's understated clubhouse holds a deep connection with its membership, steeped in the traditions of the game. While not a regular stop for professional tours, the club has hosted important amateur events and state championships. The atmosphere, however, reflects a more intimate bond between golfers and the land.
