GRAND CYPRESS GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Orlando, FL, USA
Designed by Jack Nicklaus
Grand Cypress Golf Club, just a short drive from the bustle of Orlando, presents a unique challenge and aesthetic, a world away from typical Florida golf. This isn't your standard flat, palm-lined Florida course; rather, it's Jack Nicklaus' homage to the Scottish links, reimagined in the Sunshine State. The undulations, pot bunkers, and stacked sod walls, reminiscent of courses like St. Andrews, create a strategic test where wind is your constant companion and creativity is rewarded.
Nicklaus, in his prime, transformed what was once flat citrus groves into a surprisingly convincing links-style experience. He utilized mounding and strategic bunkering to create visual deception and force players to think their way around the course. The New Course is the crown jewel of the property.
Grand Cypress has not hosted major championships, but it serves as a haven for golfers seeking a different type of Florida experience, one that prioritizes strategy and shot-making over sheer power. The Club is popular with visitors enjoying their stays at the many resorts in the area, and for the many corporate retreats that the area is known for.
