KANANASKIS COUNTRY GOLF COURSE
🇨🇦 Kananaskis, Alberta, CA
Designed by Robert Trent Jones
Mt. Kidd, carved from the heart of Kananaskis Country, stands as a testament to Canadian golf's enduring appeal amidst breathtaking mountain landscapes. The course, routed across varied terrain, incorporates both open meadowland and stands of mature evergreens, challenging golfers to adapt their game to the shifting conditions under the shadow of the Canadian Rockies. Expect tee shots that require navigating demanding sight lines and approaches that test club selection against the unpredictable mountain air.
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., Mt. Kidd reflects a classic, strategic approach to course design. Jones masterfully utilized the existing topography, creating memorable holes with elevated tees and greens protected by natural hazards and sculpted bunkers. While not a stage for major professional championships, Mt. Kidd has nonetheless established itself as a respected venue for regional amateur events and a favored destination for those seeking a challenging yet rewarding golf experience within the province.
The club, while not internationally renowned, holds a special place in the hearts of Albertan golfers. Its relative isolation, coupled with the stunning scenery, fosters a sense of camaraderie among members who appreciate the escape from the everyday. It's a place where the shared experience of navigating the course's challenges is as valued as the score itself. The halfway house, fondly referred to as "The Stumble Inn" due to its strategic positioning, is the spot for a quick drink, an informal poll of hole difficulty, and tales of near misses or extraordinary makes.
Reviews
An absolute must play if in the area.
Kananaskis Mt Kidd is one of my favorite courses in the world. The views that you see throughout the round are unmatched and the course is always in amazing shape. The value for what you get is 10/10, cannot recommend enough! Maybe if you’re lucky you’ll see a bear or two!
Once in a lifetime views on a golf course. Hard to top it.
Kananaskis (Mount Kidd) should be in the conversation as one of the best mountain golf courses in the world. The views here are some of the best I've ever seen, the conditioning is wonderful, and the routing is fantastic. Similar to other courses in the Canadian Rockies, you will hit some of the most exhilarating tee shots throughout the round. Getting a tee time was very challenging and competitive, but if you are willing to be at your computer when tee times open in the spring, you will have a good chance of getting one. It's worth the effort!
