MOUNTAIN BROOK CLUB
🇺🇸 Birmingham, AL, USA
Designed by Donald Ross, George Cobb, John LaFoy

Mountain Brook Club's course, nestled in the heart of its namesake Birmingham suburb, is a testament to understated Southern golf elegance. It isn't known to grab headlines, but locals recognize it for its charm and challenging, old-school design.
Originally shaped in the late 1920s, the course exhibits a classic parkland feel, routed through rolling terrain and mature hardwoods. Its tree-lined fairways reward accuracy, while subtly contoured greens ask thoughtful questions of even the most seasoned putters. Recent updates have reinforced its original character, never sacrificing its old-world charm. A number of blind shots, combined with dog legs keep players guessing at the next lie.
More than anything, Mountain Brook is known as a family-oriented golf club in Birmingham. The community loves the club because it represents a tradition of friendly competition and social connection, reflecting the culture of the Mountain Brook neighborhood itself. Known for their exceptional junior program, the club has produced numerous college players, a testament to its commitment to growing the game.
Reviews
Mountain Brook club is a unique course, particularly the front 9. The course has 3 par 4s where driver isn’t an option due to the jammed layout of the course. It’s always in pristine condition but it’s a tight course where Ross did the best he could with limited space. The facilities are superb.
