MISTWOOD GOLF COURSE
🇺🇸 Romeoville, IL, USA
Designed by Ray Hearn

Mistwood Golf Course, sculpted into the rolling Illinois landscape of Plainfield, stands as a testament to traditional Midwestern golf, a challenging layout imbued with a touch of Scottish links influence.
Originally designed by Raymond Hearn, Mistwood’s open fairways are deceptive, demanding strategic course management rather than sheer power. The wind, a constant companion here, amplifies the challenges presented by the course's undulating terrain and cleverly placed bunkers, rewarding accuracy and thoughtful shot selection. A complete renovation by famed architect Arthur Hills transformed the course into one of the regions premier golfing destinations.
Though not steeped in major championship history, Mistwood proudly hosted the Illinois Open and several US Open Qualifiers, showcasing its ability to test both seasoned professionals and ambitious amateurs.
Mistwood’s appeal extends beyond the course itself. The clubhouse, a welcoming hub for members and guests alike, is known for its hearty Midwestern fare and convivial atmosphere. Here, post-round stories are shared, and local lore is passed down, solidifying Mistwood's place as a treasured golfing institution in the Plainfield community.
