MISQUAMICUT CLUB
🇺🇸 Watch Hill, RI, USA
Designed by Donald Ross

Misquamicut is Rhode Island golf, distilled. The club embraces its place as a relaxed, windswept respite on the state's southwestern shoreline, a place where golf traditions are upheld with a friendly informality.
Designed in the early 1920s, the layout is a classic seaside design. While not a true links, the course's open fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and the ever-present coastal winds dictate strategy. The terrain is relatively flat with subtle undulations that can make approach shots challenging, and the prevailing wind coming in off the Atlantic often turns seemingly benign holes into stern tests, favoring those who can control their ball flight. The club's famous 18th hole, a challenging par 4 that runs alongside the beach, provides a stirring finish.
Donald Ross crafted the original design, and while it lacks the fame of some of his more celebrated courses, it remains a fine example of his ability to create a challenging yet fair test of golf on a unique piece of property.
While it may fly under the national radar, Misquamicut's enduring appeal lies in its commitment to golf's original spirit: a place where the game is enjoyed with good company, stunning views, and a refreshing sea breeze. It's also known for its clam chowder which is a popular dish among members and guests alike.

Tale of two 9’s. Living in the northeast I would go back if invited but I’m not clearing my schedule.
