Mineral Mound at Mineral Mound State Park

Mineral Mound occupies a distinctive site within Mineral Mound State Park near Eddyville in western Kentucky, positioned between Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley in the Land Between the Lakes region. The course was designed by the team of Dr. Michael Hurdzan, Dana Fry, and David Whelchel, who worked with rolling terrain that provides natural elevation changes uncommon for public golf in this part of Kentucky. The design takes advantage of the property's wooded character and topographical variety, routing holes through corridors of hardwoods and across open ridgelines.

The layout reflects Hurdzan and Fry's approach to public-accessible golf, emphasizing playability across skill levels while incorporating strategic interest through green complexes and thoughtful bunkering. The terrain allows for several holes that play uphill or downhill, and the designers used the natural contours to create variety in both shot values and visual presentation.
