MILL CREEK COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Salado, TX, USA
Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr.

Mill Creek Country Club, nestled in the heart of Salado, Texas, offers a challenging and engaging course that embodies the spirit of Hill Country golf. The original design reflects a classic parkland style, winding through stands of mature oak and pecan trees with subtle elevation changes that test club selection and strategic play. This is not a bomber's paradise, but rather a course that rewards thoughtful approaches and deft green reading. While the fairways are generous, wayward shots are quickly penalized by the surrounding native grasses.
Significant renovations have subtly modernized the course, enhancing its playability for a wide range of skill levels while preserving the original architectural intent. The greens, known for their subtle breaks and undulating surfaces, are meticulously maintained and provide a true test for even the most seasoned putters.
Mill Creek is primarily a haven for its local membership, a tight-knit community of golf enthusiasts. While not known for hosting major championships, it's a place where the focus remains on camaraderie and the simple enjoyment of the game. Known locally for its fried catfish, the clubhouse is often buzzing long after the last putt drops.
Reviews
Horrible conditions all the time. Even when it has good conditions, there are some stupid holes. However, I do like the heart shaped green. Too bad it was a broken heart when I played it.
