METAMORA FIELDS GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Metamora, IL, USA
Designed by D. A. Weibring, Steve Wolfard

Metamora Fields Golf Club sits in the rolling farmland of central Illinois, roughly fifteen miles northeast of Peoria. The course was designed by D. A. Weibring and Steve Wolfard, a partnership known for their work throughout the Midwest during the 1990s and 2000s. Weibring, a PGA Tour veteran who grew up in nearby Quincy, Illinois, brought a player's perspective to his design work, often emphasizing strategic options and playability across different skill levels.
The layout takes advantage of the property's natural terrain, incorporating elevation changes and wooded corridors that are characteristic of this part of the Illinois River valley region. The design balances open, links-style holes across former agricultural land with more enclosed, tree-lined passages, creating variety in both visual character and shot requirements. Water features and bunker complexes provide definition and challenge without overwhelming the fundamental land forms.
Metamora Fields serves as a daily-fee facility, accessible to the broader golfing public in the Peoria metropolitan area. The course reflects the Weibring-Wolfard philosophy of creating engaging golf that rewards thoughtful play while remaining approachable for recreational golfers. The setting offers a quiet, rural atmosphere despite its proximity to central Illinois population centers, with views extending across the surrounding countryside.
Reviews
Really great course. Conditions are so good from tee to green. When the fescue is up it makes the course more difficult and also more beautiful. The only issue with the course are the bunkers. If they did great sand in the bunkers would be the best course in the area. Very well already could be.
