MENDHAM GOLF & TENNIS CLUB
🇺🇸 Mendham, NJ, USA
Designed by Alfred H. Tull

Mendham Golf & Tennis Club occupies rolling terrain in the hills of Morris County, New Jersey, roughly thirty miles west of New York City. The course was designed by Alfred H. Tull, a regional architect active in the early-to-mid twentieth century who worked primarily in the Mid-Atlantic states. Tull's designs typically reflect the strategic principles of the Golden Age, emphasizing natural routing over dramatic earthmoving and rewarding thoughtful play over pure power.
The layout moves through wooded and open terrain characteristic of northern New Jersey's glacially shaped landscape. Elevation changes create variety in stance and approach angles, and mature trees frame many holes without overly constricting play. The property's natural contours inform green sites and hazard placement, and the design asks players to manage both distance and direction across a range of hole lengths and configurations.
Mendham functions as a traditional private club serving families in the Morris County area. The club includes tennis facilities alongside the golf course, reflecting a broader recreational focus common among suburban clubs established in the region during the twentieth century. The course provides a straightforward test of golf suited to regular member play, with enough strategic interest to reward local knowledge and careful course management.
Reviews
The 12th hole is up there for one of the worst holes I've ever seen/played. If i recall, after 12 you cross the road and it almost looks like an entirely different course. interesting to say the least
Very mediocre course. A few cool and unique holes but no great ones. Greens very slow. Bunkers are very good.
