MEMPHREMAGOG GOLF CLUB
🇨🇦 Magog, Québec, CA
Designed by Thomas McBroom
Memphremagog, a relative newcomer to Quebec's golfing landscape, already boasts a devoted following in the Magog region. Routed through rolling hills just south of the majestic Lake Memphremagog, the course has grown to a 36-hole complex. While the terrain doesn't offer dramatic elevation changes, the original 18 - now known as Le Manoir - feature subtly contoured fairways lined with mature maples and pines, placing a premium on approach shots. Expect a classic parkland-style experience.
Designed by renowned Canadian architect Graham Cooke, Memphremagog opened its initial 18 holes in 2005. A second 18, christened Le Panorama, followed soon after, offering wider fairways and bolder green complexes - some feel it favors a more modern style of play. Cooke's design encourages strategic play, rewarding thoughtful course management over brute force.
Though not yet a fixture on the national stage, Memphremagog attracts a strong regional amateur circuit, known for its fiercely competitive club championships. The membership enjoys a reputation for its relaxed, inclusive atmosphere, and post-round conversations often extend well into the evening on the clubhouse terrace, fueled by local microbrews and tales of near misses on the challenging par-3s.
