CARROLLWOOD COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Tampa, FL, USA
Designed by Ed Ault

Carrollwood Country Club sits in the Carrollwood neighborhood of northern Tampa, a residential area developed in the 1960s and 1970s. Ed Ault designed the original course, which opened in 1968 as part of the community's master plan. The club operates as a semi-private facility and features 27 holes divided into three nines: Meadows, Pine, and Lakes. The Meadows/Pine combination represents one of the three possible 18-hole configurations available to members and guests.
Ault, a Florida-based architect active from the 1950s through the 1980s, designed numerous courses across the state during the post-war golf boom. His work typically emphasized playability for a range of skill levels while working within the flat terrain and water management requirements common to central Florida. At Carrollwood, the routing incorporates the area's natural features—stands of pine and oak, wetlands, and the relatively modest elevation changes available in the Tampa region.
The Meadows nine tends toward more open playing corridors, while the Pine nine features tighter, tree-lined fairways that require greater accuracy from the tee. Water comes into play on several holes across both nines, reflecting the drainage patterns and retention areas necessary for Florida golf course design. The club has served the local Tampa golf community for over five decades, providing a neighborhood course option in a region with substantial year-round play.
