MEADOW CLUB
🇺🇸 Fairfax, CA, USA
Designed by Alister Mackenzie, Mike DeVries, Robert Hunter

Meadow Club, nestled in the rolling hills of Marin County, whispers of a bygone era when golf course architecture prioritized natural contours and strategic play over sheer length. This understated masterpiece, born in the Golden Age, unfurls across a landscape that favors thoughtful shot-making and creative recovery, rather than bombing and gouging. Narrow fairways, punctuated by subtly-sloping greens, reward precision and a keen understanding of the land's gentle deflections. Favoring players who work the ball from right-to-left, Meadow Club’s classic design presents blind shots and intriguing doglegs around every corner.
Designed by the legendary Alister MacKenzie, before his Cypress Point and Augusta National fame, Meadow Club retains a charm and integrity that defies modern trends. Its routing, remarkably unchanged over the decades, provides a constant test of skill and patience. The course embraces its surrounding environment, with towering redwoods framing many holes and providing a stunning backdrop to the golfing experience.
Meadow Club’s unpretentious atmosphere fosters a tight-knit community of passionate golfers who appreciate the game's traditions and the enduring appeal of a truly classic layout. More than just a round of golf, a visit to Meadow Club is a step back in time, a chance to experience the game as it was intended, and to enjoy the camaraderie of a club that prioritizes substance over show. The famed "Meadow Burger," a deceptively simple yet utterly addictive concoction, is a staple enjoyed by members post round and a hidden gem.
Reviews
Great played here a lot
Top 5 and it’s not close. An absolute pleasure.
Meadow Club is a reminder of what golf can be when architect and landscape move in harmony. Few golf experiences have left me feeling such a deep and profound oneness with nature. I’ll be thinking about this one for a while.
Played during a horrific drought so they couldn’t water the fairways just greens tees and aprons so it wasn’t t as good as it could have been but I hear it’s much improved. Great layout like all MacKenzie’s and beautiful setting. Thought the 18th hole was kinda funky. Play it if you can it’s a little under the radar compared to fellow CA MacKenzies’s CP and Pasatiempo but it will likely be the best course you play on any trip.
