CLUB DE GOLF ESCORPION
🇪🇸 Bétera, Comunidad Valenciana, ES
Designed by Alfonso Vidaor, Ron Kirby
Club de Golf Escorpión sits in Bétera, approximately fifteen kilometers northwest of Valencia in the Comunidad Valenciana region. The club features two distinct eighteen-hole layouts, the Masia and Nuevos courses, both designed by Alfonso Vidaor with contributions from Ron Kirby. The courses occupy gently rolling terrain characteristic of the Valencian interior, with the landscape shaped by Mediterranean vegetation including pine and olive trees that frame many holes.
The Masia course, the original layout, takes its name from the traditional Valencian farmhouse architecture found in the region. It presents a more established routing with mature tree growth that defines playing corridors and strategic options. The Nuevos course, as its name suggests, represents the newer addition to the property and typically offers a more open character in its earlier stages of maturation. Both layouts incorporate the natural elevation changes of the site, requiring thoughtful club selection and course management rather than dramatic shot-making.
Escorpión serves as a regional facility for Valencia-area golfers, providing year-round play in the mild Mediterranean climate. The club maintains traditional Spanish golf club amenities and dining, reflecting the social culture common to Spanish golf where the nineteenth hole holds particular importance. The dual-course setup allows the club to host local and regional competitions while accommodating member and visitor play across both layouts.
