MARCUS POINTE GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Pensacola, FL, USA
Designed by Earl Stone

Marcus Pointe Golf Club occupies rolling terrain in northern Pensacola, designed by Earl Stone and opened in the mid-1980s. Stone, a regional architect active across the Gulf Coast during that era, routed the course through natural pine and hardwood forests characteristic of the Florida Panhandle. The property features more elevation change than typical Florida layouts, with fairways that move through corridors of mature trees and around several lakes and wetland areas that come into play on multiple holes.
The design emphasizes strategic positioning off the tee, as the tree-lined fairways reward accuracy over distance. Water hazards appear throughout the round, requiring golfers to manage risk on approach shots and around the greens. The layout includes a mix of shorter risk-reward par fours and longer tests that demand solid ball-striking, with green complexes that vary in size and contour to suit the character of each hole.
Marcus Pointe serves as a daily-fee facility accessible to the Pensacola golfing community and visitors to the region. The course provides a traditional parkland experience in an area known more for coastal links-style designs, offering a contrast to the beachside courses found along the nearby Gulf of Mexico. The tree-framed setting and rolling topography give the property a distinct character within the local golf landscape.
Reviews
I played here everyday from Dec 95 to Nov 98 It was a great track back then - played it a few times when in town but not in last 10 years They reversed the nines since It was very walkable, fast paced, elevation, Parkland Two short 3’s on front and Two longer tougher ones on back 15 or 6 now was a great Par 5 10 or 1 risky down hill short Par 4 to a slider small green with bunker in front Old 7 and 9 gettable Par 5 if pin in front - Long narrow up hill greens
Goat track. Used to be good but the greens are god awful and large sections of unplayable greens.
