SAND VALLEY GOLF RESORT
🇺🇸 Nekoosa, WI, USA
Designed by David McLay Kidd
Mammoth Dunes isn't just a name; it's a statement about the scale of this modern links in central Wisconsin. Designed by David McLay Kidd, this course embraces the sandy, rolling terrain left behind by glacial deposits, a landscape more reminiscent of coastal Scotland than the American Midwest. Wide fairways encourage aggressive play, but errant shots are punished by the native fescue and strategically placed bunkers. Long par 4s and reachable par 5s offer a mix of risk and reward, while the ever-present wind adds another layer of complexity.
Built on the same sprawling Sand Valley property as its acclaimed sister courses, Mammoth Dunes quickly distinguished itself as a more accessible, fun-focused experience. Kidd's design philosophy prioritized playability and visual drama, creating a course that's both challenging for skilled players and enjoyable for higher handicaps. The course's routing unfolds across massive sand dunes, providing panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and a sense of immersion in the natural environment.
Beyond the golf, Sand Valley has cultivated a unique atmosphere. The property is situated in an area with plentiful lakes. Guests bond over the after-round experience, the resort's relaxed vibe fostered by shared challenges and stunning views.

Fun playable course
One of the most fun courses I have ever played. Wide open fairways and big greens. Beautiful scenery and fun hole designs. This is what Keiser golf is all about. The entire resort keeps getting better and Mammoth remains my favorite to play.
Very fun and playable track. Can make mistakes and recover. Wonderful par 3’s
Very playable and will allow you to have a great round. Challenging but fair with generous landing areas from the tee.
This is a great first course to play at Sand Valley as it’s the most forgiving with wide fairways and the greeens slope to the holes. The tee shot on 1 from way above as an extension of the putting green was cool. Very much enjoyed it. Walking only, so playing two courses here in the same day takes a toll. The driving range being away from the clubhouse is the only complaint
The scale of mammoth dunes is incredible. This could be my favorite course on property. It’s hard to play a round at mammoth without smiling through every hole.
Best par 3s on the property
Best course at SV (I have not played Lido). I don’t care that it’s easy it is the best walk and I’m most relaxed when I’m here. One of my favorites ever
Lots of fun. Isn’t the most strategic course as everything basically funnels towards greens and fairways, but it’s a lot of fun and a beautiful walk.
Food is solid and well-proiced. As for the course, it's a resort so I can almost guarantee you someone in your group will have the round of their life. I think I made eight birdies or something like that. The design and layout feel like a way-too-long solo by a jam band. It's like, WE GET IT. THERE ARE SAND DUNES. Sand Valley is lightyears better.
