LOMAS SANTA FE COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Solana Beach, CA, USA
Designed by William Francis Bell

Lomas Santa Fe Country Club sits in Solana Beach, a coastal community in San Diego County's North Coast region. The course was designed by William F. Bell, a prolific Southern California architect whose career spanned several decades in the mid-twentieth century. Bell designed numerous courses throughout California and the Southwest, typically working with the rolling terrain and native vegetation characteristic of the region.
The routing at Lomas Santa Fe occupies gently rolling terrain inland from the Pacific Ocean. The property features elevation changes that provide views across the surrounding coastal landscape, and the design incorporates the natural contours into hole strategy. Bell's work here reflects his practical approach to course architecture, with straightforward holes that reward accurate shotmaking rather than relying on dramatic features or severe hazards.
The club operates as a private facility serving the Solana Beach and greater San Diego area. Its location places it within a corridor of established golf clubs along the North County coast, where the temperate climate allows for year-round play. The course provides a traditional country club experience for its membership, with the layout offering a familiar test for regular play rather than championship length or tournament-level difficulty.
Lomas Santa Fe represents the kind of solid, member-focused design that Bell produced throughout his career—courses built to serve their communities with playable golf on appealing terrain rather than to chase national rankings or host professional events.
Reviews
Great course in great condition. Amazing greens. Pace was perfect, no waiting. Practice areas are pretty terrible, mats only range with hard yellow balls and one tiny putting and chipping green. Clubhouse is decent, food was good. Handful of nice views throughout the course.
1973 William Bell course, Private I played through my club. Nice track
