LINVILLE RIDGE COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Linville, NC, USA
Designed by Bobby Weed, George Cobb, MacCurrach Golf

Linville Ridge Country Club sits in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina, near the town of Linville in Avery County. The course occupies elevated terrain at roughly 4,000 feet, making it one of the higher-altitude layouts in the eastern United States. George Cobb designed the original eighteen holes, which opened in the 1970s as part of a mountain residential community. Cobb, a prolific architect who worked extensively in the Carolinas, routed the course across rolling, forested land with natural elevation changes and mountain views.
The layout was later modified by Bobby Weed and MacCurrach Golf, who updated bunkers, greens, and other features to modernize the design while maintaining the mountain character. The course plays through corridors of hardwoods and evergreens, with fairways that follow the natural contours of the ridges and valleys. Elevation shifts create variety in shot-making, and several holes offer long views toward the surrounding peaks.
Linville Ridge operates as a private club serving the residential community. The area around Linville is known for its cool summer climate and autumn foliage, and the course reflects the mountain golf tradition of the region. The club provides a year-round amenity for members, though winter weather at this elevation can limit play during colder months.
Reviews
Exactly what you’d expect out of a top tier western nc course, pure/pristine not a blade out of grass out of place.
