FOX HOLLOW GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Lakewood, CO, USA
Designed by Denis Griffiths

Fox Hollow Golf Club sits in the western Denver suburbs of Lakewood, where the high plains meet the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Designed by Denis Griffiths and opened in the mid-1990s, the facility features three distinct nine-hole layouts—Links, Canyon, and Meadow—that can be combined into three different eighteen-hole configurations. The Links/Canyon pairing offers perhaps the most dramatic contrast in terrain and playing character among these combinations.
The Links nine occupies relatively open, rolling ground with wide fairways and strategic bunkering that recalls traditional Scottish links golf, adapted to Colorado's high-altitude conditions at roughly 5,700 feet elevation. Wind often plays a significant role, and the exposed terrain demands thoughtful club selection and trajectory control. The Canyon nine descends into more dramatic topography, with elevation changes, ravines, and natural arroyos coming into play. This routing weaves through more confined corridors where accuracy takes precedence over distance, and several holes feature forced carries over native grasses and scrub.
As a municipal facility operated by the City of Lakewood, Fox Hollow serves a broad cross-section of Denver-area golfers and visitors. The course provides a legitimate test of golf at a public price point, with conditioning that typically reflects its high volume of play. The combination of Griffiths' routing variety and the natural drama of the Front Range setting makes the Links/Canyon configuration a solid representation of Colorado golf's characteristic blend of openness and terrain.
